FAQ

Division Ages - RBGSL follows the USA Softball mandated age breaks. The following is a breakdown of each division and ages:
T-Ball (6U) - age 4-6
Rookies (8U) - age 7-8
Division 1 (10U) - age 9-10
Division 2 (12U) - age 11-12

Age Designation - the cutoff date for each Division cutoff is 12/31 for any year. For the 2023 Spring season for example, if your daughter is going to turn 9 after that date, then she will still be eligible for 8U for the spring. If her birthday is before 12/31 then she will be in the 10U Division. The best part is that our online registration process does the evaluation for all of us based upon birth date, so the system will only offer you the appropriate division when registering.

Team Creation and Player Assessments - Rookie (8U) players and older participate in a player assessment in late January to provide an opportunity for coaches and RBGSL Board Members to gauge the skill level of players. A draft is then held to field teams to achieve a relative balance of skill levels across all teams. T-Ball players do not participate in an assessment, rather are randomly placed on a team.

Player Friend Requests - RBGSL attempts to honor player requests to participate with other players in T-Ball. Such requests are not offered for the other Divisions.

Games/Practices - the following is an overview of how the RBGSL program works:

T-Ball - both games and practices are scheduled on one weekday and most Saturdays. Game length is 1hr and coaches generally ask for players to arrive 30 min prior for warmup. Practices are generally 1hr. Weekday events start as early as 4:30p (so for a game it would be arrive at 4:00p, practice at 4:30p). Saturday games start as early as 9a. From February to early March is all practice and twice per week - 1 weekday and Saturday. From March to April there is one practice and one game per week.

Rookies | Division 1 | Division 2 - both games and practices are scheduled on 1-2 weekday days and most Saturdays. Game length is 1hr 20min and coaches generally ask for players to arrive 1hr prior for warmup. Practices are generally 1hr 30min (longer for pitchers and catchers). Weekday practice events start as early as 4:30p and games at 5:15p. Saturday games start as early as 8a. From February to early March is all practice and 2-3 times per week - weekday(s) and Saturday. From March to April there are two games per week - 1 weekday and Saturday - and a practice as can be scheduled.
